Rovers boss Gary Bowyer was delighted to have bolstered his midfield ranks with the loan signing of Jay Spearing.
Bowyer admitted he has long been an admirer of the Bolton midfielder and was pleased to finally get his man.
“We are delighted to have Jay on board,” said the manager.
“It all happened very quickly. We made contact with Bolton on Thursday afternoon and they were very good, helping get it done quickly and he goes straight into the squad tomorrow (Saturday).
“We were very interested in him 18 months ago, so it’s great to have him here. He had a great education, coming through at Liverpool and he knows the game. He has the ability to go forward and create something, so that’s another positive.
“Jay’s been out of the team at Bolton, but we wanted him to come here and show the hunger that he has and that was evident from the one training session he’s had with us.
“He went there and won Player of the Year last season, so that shows how good he is.
“However, there was a change of manager and people have different philosophies and ideas and Jay found himself not getting enough games following an injury he had. So that’s something we’ve been able to capitalise on.
“He’s ready to go and that’s important when you bring someone in. He adds something a little bit different to the midfield that we have.”
