A big year for us

10 January 2015

Tom Cairney believes Rovers can look forward to 2015 with optimism following last weekend's cup win at Charlton Athletic.

The Rovers midfielder felt that the team got the result their performance merited to see them progress through to a fourth round home tie with Swansea City.

Cairney feels Rovers have been playing well in recent weeks without the reward of more points, but believes they can use last Saturday's cup win as the catalyst for a successful second half to the campaign.

"It was enjoyable to play in, it was a good win," said Cairney.

"Everyone put in a performance, we played some good stuff and it was thoroughly deserved.

"I think we feel that we've played some good stuff. We played exceptionally well in the first half at Bolton but didn't get the result we deserved.

"I think we've stepped it up and hopefully 2015 can be a big year for us.

"We are still in the mix but obviously we would like to be in the play-off places and I feel that we've got the squad and the depth to do that.

"I feel that once we get in there we will stay there."
