Boss Gary Bowyer has vowed that the team will give their all in the remaning matches of the season.
The loss to Norwich City on Tuesday night left Rovers with only an outside chance of reaching the top six.
But with 13 games left in the league, plus the FA Cup quarter-final against Liverpool to come, the manager is determined not to let the season fizzle out.
"The disappointment and the frustration is felt just as much by myself and the players," said the Rovers boss.
"We've still got some good games to look forward to, none more so than Saturday against Bournemouth.
"We are realistic, we are totally aware of where we are. But we still have plenty of league games and you can quickly see it change.
"We aren't going to be shouting from the rooftops saying we are going to be there, we'll add that realism to it. But we have an obligation to go out and perform to the best of our abilities every game. For ourselves, for the supporters, and for the club.
"Then you never know where that will take you. Whilst there is always that possibility you will never see any of us laying down and dying."
