U21s handed home draw

12 February 2015

Rovers will take on Reading in the semi-final of the Under 21 Premier League Cup at the end of this month.

After defeating Aston Villa and Newcastle United to progress through to the last four, their reward is a home draw against last season's winners Reading.

The Royals lifted the inaugural trophy last year after defeating Manchester City 4-3 on aggregate over two legs.

This season they've defeated Queens Park Rangers, Bolton Wanderers and Huddersfield Town to reach this stage of the competition.

The two sides have already met in the Barclays Under 21 Premier League this season, a goal from Dominic Samuel saw Reading win 1-0 at Ewood Park back in September.

The match will take place at Leigh Sports Village on Thursday 26th February, kick-off 7.00pm. Admission will be free upon registration at www.leighsportsvillage.com/rovers.

Southampton take on Watford this evening with the winners facing Derby County in the other semi-final.
