Statement re: Bolton Wanderers rearranged game

20 February 2015

Following a meeting between Lancashire Police and club safety officials, a decision was taken to allocate the Darwen End of Ewood Park to away fans attending the Blackburn Rovers vs. Bolton Wanderers game rescheduled earlier this week and establish a greater segregation area between both sets of supporters.
This has been taken in the interests of supporters safety following incidents at the Macron Stadium in December during which a number of pyrotechnic devices were set-off. One of these incidents resulted in a Blackburn supporter suffering a medical condition requiring emergency medical treatment.
This decision has been made solely on safety grounds.
Due to the fixture being re-arranged because of our FA Cup involvement, the timescale of notice given was less than would normally be provided. And we understand that the shorter turnaround may cause some supporters inconvenience but the club will do everything possible to ensure the fans affected are given suitable alternatives.
All relocated tickets allocated will be based on the indicated preference for previous relocated games. If any supporter is unhappy with the seat provided, they are welcome to contact the Ticket Office for a ticket transfer to a preferred seat (subject to availability) in any home area - this should be requested no later than close of business on Tuesday 10th March.
It has been recognised that there has been an inconsistency in how supporters have been notified and that will be addressed in the future and the club apologises for any inconvenience that may have been caused.
