Rovers boss Gary Bowyer was delighted with new loan signing Jay Spearing's debut display against Fulham on Saturday.
Despite only arriving at the club 24 hours earlier, the former Bolton skipper was thrown straight into Rovers' starting line-up and produced an assured performance in the middle of the park.
"It was an unbelievable debut," said the manager.
"We had to take him off towards the end to protect him, because that's his first game for six or seven weeks.
"The biggest compliment I can pay to him, is that he looked like he had been here a lot longer than just 24 hours.
"He slotted in straight away and he's only going to get better for us.
"He's going to be a leader, you saw him organising and talking, and once he gets used to the pace of the games again, he's just going to go from strength to strength, so we're delighted with that."
