Jordan Preston scored his first senior goal on his debut for loan club Ayr United on Saturday.

The 19-year-old, who last month joined the Scottish League One side until the end of the season, had earlier seen a strike cruelly chalked off for offside, but he got on the scoresheet seven minutes from time with the final goal as Ayr defeated Stirling Albion 4-1.

Preston played the full match and the win sees United move out of the relegation places.

Leon Best's Brighton picked up a point on their travels with a goalless draw at Sheffield Wednesday.

The striker played all but 12 minutes as the Seagulls held the Owls at Hillsborough.

Our players on loan at League One clubs had weekends to forget as both Fleetwood Town and Oldham Athletic tasted defeat.

Josh Morris played the full match for Fleetwood, who went down 2-0 at Crewe, whilst Jake Kean was in goal for Oldham who lost 1-0 at home to relegation-threatened Colchester United.

Burton Albion remain level on points with Shrewsbury Town at the top of League Two after a 2-0 home win over Oxford United.

Darragh Lenihan played the full match for the Brewers as they made it 12 games unbeaten.
