Rovers Ladies have been ordered to replay their Lancashire FA Womens Challenge Cup semi-final against Preston North End.
Gemma Donnelly’s side thought they had booked their place in a 12th successive county cup final following a dramatic penalty shoot-out victory over their local rivals last month.
Rovers won the tie 3-2 on penalties after the game had ended goalless.
However, after both sides were found to have fielded an ineligible player during the snow-hit semi-final, the LFA have decided that the match must be replayed.
The rearranged game will now take place at AFC Darwen on Wednesday February 25th, kick-off 7.45pm. The winners will meet Morecambe in the final, following their 5-2 victory over Chorley in the other semi-final.
