A match we should have won

Boss Gary Bowyer was in no doubt that the better side lost as Rovers went down 1-0 to Watford at Vicarage Road.

After an even first half it was Rovers who were the dominant force in the second. But a combination of great goalkeeping and wastefulness in front of goal would prove costly.

A point would have been the least the blue and whites deserved, but they left with nothing after Odion Ighalo's strike seven minutes from time saw the home side steal all three.

"I'm absolutely gutted for the players," Bowyer told Rovers Player after the match. "They were outstanding, the better team by far.

"We've been totally robbed today, Gomes has pulled off three outstanding saves, but with the chances that we missed we should have won this game.

"We were the better team, we created the better chances, Watford had one shot on goal in the second half and that's it.

"We were terrific today, anyone who was at the game knows how well we have done. We've got to do more in front of goal and keep working hard, that is all we can do."

Rovers have little time to reflect on the defeat as Rotherham United are the visitors to Ewood Park this Tuesday night, kick-off 7.45pm.

Tickets are on open sale at priced from £12 Adults, £9 Seniors/Students and £5 for Under 17s.
