The sign of a good side

Paul Lambert believes the way Rovers ground out the victory against Rotherham United on Friday night is an indication of the progress the team are making.

Rovers claimed back-to-back wins for the first time this season thanks to the hard-earned display at Ewood Park with the manager believing it can only bode well as they prepare to face Nottingham Forest tomorrow night.

"It is the sign of a good side if you can do that and in this division sometimes you won't play well at all," Lambert told Rovers Player.

"I've been in the game long enough to know that you can't play well every time.

"The lads were running on empty at the end but it is a big three points. It was massive. The game wasn't good for us, but the result was top class."

Friday's win, allied with Saturday's results has meant Rovers have moved up to 11th in the table and to within four points of the top six, with the manager praising the players efforts in recent weeks.

He added: "We've had some hard games and they've made a big run at it to try and get near the last position in the play-offs.

"There are so many teams competing for it and we've come in at a time when we were a lot of points behind.

"But three wins and a draw is excellent form and back-to-back wins is really good.

"All credit to the players for their effort and application to win games."
