Traditionally one of the biggest days in the footballing calendar, Paul Lambert is excited at the prospect of Rovers taking on Middlesbrough on Boxing Day.

Rovers are anticipating their largest crowd of the campaign to date with the visit of Aitor Karanka's side to Ewood Park.

The Rovers boss is looking forward to the encounter and has urged the side to play without fear and to go at the Teessiders from the off.

"I think with it being Boxing Day and the big crowd that is going to come to the game means it has the makings of a great game," said Lambert.

"We just have to go out there on the front foot from the start, we'll play without any fear, we'll go and do what we have been doing for the last give games.

"If we can do that and get our noses in front then hopefully we'll go and win the game. If we have any aspirations of reaching the top six then we have to win."
