Steele: It felt good to win like that

Jason Steele was delighted to see Rovers claim the victory against Rotherham on Friday night but he knows that they can play much better.

The Rovers kept their eighth clean sheet of the season with the 1-0 win with a dogged display at Ewood Park to move up to 11th in the table.

The keeper admits they were sloppy starters against the Millers, but were resolute when it mattered to claim the points.

"We know that in this league sometimes you don't play well but it is majorly important that you grind the results out," Steele told Radio Rovers.

"We haven't done that for a while and it feels good.

"We all know that we can do better than that, in that first ten minutes there was a lot of wrong decisions made from everyone out there and I think it took us 20 minutes to get going and after that we deserved the goal.

"They had a chance late in the half but other than that I think it was pretty comfortable - albeit under pressure.

"I don't want to put the mockers on it but a lot of credit has to go to the whole team. Front to back we are defending with our lives and against Rotherham I've only had to make one save. I'll take that all day long.

"A lot of credit also has to go to the fans as well because we didn't play great tonight, we didn't play the sort of football that we had been playing, but they willed us to the end and willed us to win."

Rovers are back in action this Monday night when Nottingham Forest are the visitors to Ewood Park.

Tickets for the match are on sale right up to the 7.45pm kick-off, priced from £18 for Adults, from £12 Seniors/18-21yrs and from £7 for Juniors aged 17 and under.
