Grant Hanley will undergo late checks to see if he's fit to travel with the rest of the squad for Saturday's match against Bristol City.
The Rovers captain sustained an ankle injury in the 2-2 draw with Sheffield Wednesday last time out and hasn't yet trained with the team.
The defender, who is an ever-present for Rovers in the league this season, will be given as long as possible to prove his fitness by boss Paul Lambert.
"He's been doing some work with the physios and we've still got another 24 hours or so," said the manager.
"He's doing alright but I have to wait and see how he feels.
"I think Grant is one of those guys that if he's not fit then you know there's a problem, there is no grey area with him, he's one of those kids that says he's ready and if he's ready great, if he's not then you know there's definitely been a problem.
"He's been colossal for us and that is the big thing, but if he misses it then we have other options."
One player who comes back into contention for this weekend's match is Tom Lawrence.
The forward was only a late substitute in the draw with Wednesday following a calf knock in the win over Preston, but having trained all this week, the on-loan man could return to the starting line-up.
"Tom Lawrence has been fine, there is no problem there. So he comes back into the reckoning," added the Rovers boss.
"He only trained on Friday last week, but he's had a good week and he is ready to go so it is good to have him back."
