Paul Lambert hailed Rovers' gritty side as they claimed a hard-fought win over Rotherham United.

Luke Hyam's first half own goal was the difference between the two sides as the new Rovers boss celebrated a first win on home soil.

The Scot admitted that the match was far from a classic, but was delighted to claim all three points.

"I thought we only played in fits and starts as it wasn't a good game," Lambert told Radio Rovers after the game.

"You can credit Rotherham for that, they are fighting for their lives, so it was a hard-earned victory.

"You can't always play pretty football at times but the secret is to win games. It doesn't matter how you do it, nobody will remember that in a couple of days time.

"I've been in the game long enough to realise that you win and that is what we have done."

Rovers are back in action this Monday night when Nottingham Forest are the visitors to Ewood Park.

Tickets for the match are on sale right up to the 7.45pm kick-off, priced from £18 for Adults, from £12 Seniors/18-21yrs and from £7 for Juniors aged 17 and under.
