No motivation required

Paul Lambert doesn't believe his players will need any encouragement to take on Middlesbrough this Boxing Day.

The table-toppers visit Ewood Park later today off the back of a six-game unbeaten run in the league, but whilst the Rovers boss knows the game presents a tough test, it is one that everyone should look forward to.

Rovers suffered their first defeat under new boss Lambert last time out, but he insists the match against Boro should be the perfect pick-me-up.

"We know are going to be in for a hard game but it is a great game to play in," said the Scot.

"I'd rather have this game this Saturday after the defeat against Reading, I'd rather play somebody like Middlesbrough.

"I don't think the lads will need lifting for it because of the size of the team that is coming down and the position that Middlesbrough are in, the lads won't need any motivation.

"The players will be motivated to go and try and win a game and if we can do that then let's see what happens."
