Missed chances were costly

21 December 2015

Paul Lambert felt the failure to make the most of the chances that came their way lead to their downfall as Rovers slipped to a narrow 1-0 loss at the hands of Reading on Sunday.

Rovers had the better of the play and opportunities in the first half at the Madejski Stadium, but were unable to take them as Danny Williams' wonder strike settled the match in the home side's favour.

"That was the only thing that was missing," said the Rovers boss. "I thought when we were on top we had some great chances to score some terrific goals with some good play.

"Sometimes that happens in games where you have so much dominance that at that time you have to score.

"But it never materialised, but it wasn't for the lack of trying or the lack of chances."
