Paul Lambert was pleased with the performance of striker Fode Koita in the draw with Nottingham Forest.
The Rovers boss handed the Frenchman his first start since September in the Ewood Park clash on Monday night.
Koita almost marked his return to the starting line-up with a first goal in Rovers colours, but his close-range header in the second half was straight at Forest keeper Dorus De Vries.
"I thought Fode was excellent for his first time," Lambert told Radio Rovers.
"He should have scored, but he's a young guy that has just come over to this country and you are asking a lot of him.
"He came in against a difficult side, a team that is in a bit of form themselves and I thought he was a handful for the whole game, he tired towards the end which you expect for a lad that has not played.
"But he was more than a handful."
Rovers are back in action this Sunday when they travelt to take on Reading at the Madejski Stadium.
