Paul Lambert has called on the players to overcome the emotion that will be at the Madejski Stadium this afternoon.
The Royals' new manager Brian McDermott will take charge for the first time this Sunday, but the Rovers boss insists it is all about how his team performs on the day.
Lambert doesn't believe Reading having a new manager will have a bearing on the outcome - as long as Rovers continue to perform as they have been doing in recent weeks.
"Every game we've had has been really hard and this will be no different," said the Scot.
"First thing you have to conquer is the new manager syndrome as there'll be a lot of hype around that. But we aren't playing against the manager, we are playing 11 vs 11.
"If we've got have any aspirations to get about the top six then we have to go and do what we have been doing in the last five games that I have been here, and that is playing full tempo, and a high pressing game to try and win the match. That is what we will try and do.
"We have to be focused on trying to win our game, and I'm not going to go down there and change anything different than we have done. We'll be focused and we'll be ready."
Tickets for today's match will be on sale from 12.30pm at the South Stand ticket office situated between gates 9 and 10.
Matchday prices are £28 for Adults, £18 for 65s and over, £13 for 18-24 year-olds and £10 for Rovers fans aged 17 and under.
