Corry Evans could miss out on the Boxing Day clash against Middlesbrough admits boss Paul Lambert.

The midfielder, who signed a new three-and-a-half year deal with Rovers last month, was left out of the game against Reading due to injury.

Evans has been nursing his groin and Lambert feels the next two days could be crucial.

Aside from the Northern Ireland international, Rovers will go into Saturday's game with a near fully fit squad.

"Corry will be touch and go, whether he makes Middlesbrough, I don't know," said the Rovers chief.

"Monday he might be fine, but it all depends with Corry over the next few days then we can judge it.

"If he doesn't make Saturday then hopefully he will be fine for Bolton.

"It's a groin injury, I think he had it before we came in, he was stop start in training but hopefully he will be fine.

"If Corry doesn't make it then Jason Lowe is our only long-term injury, everybody else seems quite good, two games in three days will certainly stretch us."
