A leader on and off the pitch

Boss Paul Lambert has praised Craig Conway for not only his qualities on the pitch, but his leadership off it.

The 30-year-old, who yesterday signed a new two-and-a-half year contract extension at Ewood Park, has quickly impressed the new manager.

Lambert has been delighted with the way the Scot has performed in his three games in charge, and also, as one of the elder statesmen in the squad, the way he helps the players.

"He has done great, not just on the pitch but off it, he's been excellent, very very good," said Lambert.

"He's got a talent, like Ben, a similar type of player, but off the pitch he has been absolutely great for us, he takes charge, the lads go to him.

"He's really low maintenance, he's performed on the pitch at a really high level which is great and I think he is playing well and is enjoying his football at the minute.

"But off the pitch as well it is important that you get people with good characters and he is certainly one of them."

See Conway and Rovers in action this Friday night at Ewood Park when Rotherham United are the visitors in the 7.45pm kick-off.

Tickets are priced from £13 for Adults, from £9 for Seniors and 18-21 year-olds and from just £4 for Juniors aged 17 and under.
