Gary Bowyer believes his two latest additions will add much needed quality and competition to the Rovers ranks.
The last 24 hours has seen the manager bolster his squad further with the signings of Modou Barrow and Hope Akpan.
Barrow joins from Premier League Swansea City, the 22-year-old arriving on a three-month loan deal, with Bowyer delighted to add some pace and flair to his attacking line.
"First and foremost he is going to bring some pace that has been missing due to the loss of Josh King," said the Rovers boss.
"He's got blistering pace and he is someone that can handle the ball ever so well.
"The beauty of him is he can play in a variety of positions across that front line which is really important to us. He is a welcome addition."
Also joining Rovers is midfielder Hope Akpan. The former Everton youngster returns to the north west after signing from fellow Championship club Reading on a two-year deal.
"I think he is going to bring a great physical presence to us," added Bowyer.
"He is a good size, he has great energy and he fits in with the model that we have always tried to develop here which is someone that is young and hungry.
"Hope is someone that we have known for a long time anyway because of his background from Everton. So we knew all about him from his youth days."
