After last season's FA Cup exploits, boss Gary Bowyer is eager for Rovers to go on another cup run this campaign.
As the club prepare to take on Shrewsbury Town in the 1st round of the Capital One Cup this evening, the manager wants the team to progress through to the next stage to give them the opportunity to emulate their enjoyable run to the quarter-finals last season.
"The key message is that we want to try and get into the next round, it is as simple as that," said Bowyer.
"We want to continue the platform that we've set ourselves from Saturday in terms of our performance and individual displays. and to go and progress through to the next round.
"Last season in the FA Cup - getting all the Premier League boys at Ewood and being fortunate to go to Anfield - was a great experience for the whole club as well as the players and the supporters.
"Financially it is also an added bonus and in this particular time any additional revenue is gratefully received."
However the manager knows that it won't be straightforward against a Shrewsbury side still on a high following last season's promotion from League Two.
Like Rovers, the Shrews started their league campaign with a 2-1 home loss at the weekend, but Bowyer is fully aware that they'll be out to cause an upset.
"It is not going to be easy for sure," he added. "We have watched them and closely monitored their progress.
"They had a fantastic year last year in getting promoted, they have recruited well and they've got some good players in their team and some good young players as well.
"So they are going to be coming here looking to cause an upset so it is up to us to take that challenge on and make sure that we try and progress ourselves because this competition has not been one of our success stories in previous years in comparison to the FA Cup."
Tickets for this evening's game are on open sale up until the 7.45pm kick-off priced at just £10 for Adults, £5 Seniors/18-21yrs, and just £1 for Juniors aged 17 and under.
