Danny Guthrie is pleased to see former Reading team-mate Hope Akpan follow in his footsteps to Ewood Park.
Ahead of the new season Guthrie made the move from the Madejski Stadium, and earlier this week fellow midfielder Akpan has now done the same.
"I spent a couple of years with Hope at Reading," said Guthrie. "He’s a top fella and I got on with him really well.
"He’s really impressive physically and really good technically, so I think it’s a good signing for the club. He came through at Everton, so he was brought up properly and he knows how to play."
The arrival of Akpan means increased competition for places in the centre of the park, but Guthrie knows competition is essential if a team is to be successful.
"No team is any good without competition," he added. "People can’t rest on their laurels and you never know what’s going to happen in the season with injuries, so the more quality bodies you have the better. "
Akpan could make his Rovers debut this weekend away at Huddersfield Town. Tickets are currently on sale for the match priced at £27.50 for Adults, £17 for Seniors (60 & over), £10.00 for Juniors (17 & Under) and £5 for Under 8’s.
Tickets will be available on sale on the day of the game at the John Smith's Stadium, however supporters should note that there is a £3.00 matchday price increase.
