Rovers boss Gary Bowyer was delighted with the character shown by defender Ryan Nyambe on his senior debut for the club.
The young full-back was handed his first outing for the first team in Tuesday's Capital One Cup match with Shrewsbury, and despite a shaky start, he more than proved his worth to the team.
The 17-year-old's misplaced pass lead to the visitors opening the scoring, but after that unfortunate start the promising defender then created the Rovers equaliser when his storming run and centre was finished by Nathan Delfouneso.
Rovers eventually succumbed to defeat at the hands of the League One side, but Nyambe's performance was one of the few bright points on an otherwise disappointing evening.
"You saw some potential in Ryan Nyambe," said Bowyer. "I thought he showed great character and a great temperament to keep going and set up our equaliser and I thought he grew into the game.
"He can take a hell of a lot out of the match. He was disappointed with the first goal, but you saw the way that he responded.
"He's got some pace and power and it was a good game for him to come into and I thought did done alright out of it and he is going to be a good player for us."
