Gary Bowyer believes the younger members of his squad have a real chance to make their mark this season.
David Raya, Willem Tomlinson and Ryan Nyambe have all featured heavily this pre-season, putting in some impressive performances along the way.
But as Rovers prepare for their league opener against Wolverhampton Wanderers, the boss has guarded against expecting too much from them too soon.
"It is a bonus for us that we have those three younger players challenging and adding competition to the squad," said Bowyer.
"I think David Raya has looked impression in pre-season. He is very assured with the ball at his feet and he is progressing ever so well.
"From a goalkeeping point of view he has really put the others under pressure.
"Ryan has been terrific throughout. He is only 17 but Adam knows that he's under pressure from him and that is great for us because he has come through the Academy.
"Willem is the same, he has just got better and better with every game he has played with us and every training session. We are absolutely delighted that he had the confidence to shoot and it was a fantastic strike from him, it will only do him the world of good.
"So they are certainly in contention for the squad because of the numbers that we don't have.
"But sometimes you have to be careful because you can't expect too much of the youngsters. Expectation levels - not from within, but from outside - people get carried away, but we'll monitor them and keep working with them, but hopefully they can break through, it is a great opportunity for them."
