A chance to stake a claim

Gary Bowyer is expected to shuffle his pack when Rovers take on Shrewsbury Town in the 1st round of the Capital One Cup this evening.

The Rovers boss is likely to include some of those squad members who didn't start in Saturday's opening day clash with Wolves for tonight's match at Ewood Park - kick-off 7.45pm.

The Rovers boss has also hinted that one or two of his younger players could feature against the Shrews, to give them a chance to lay down a marker for the season.

Speaking to Rovers Player, the manager said: "I think for one or two we've got to be sensible because they've just come into the building and probably not had the same conditioning work that a lot of our lads have had.

"But at the same time I'd like to try and give the opportunity to maybe one or two young ones to have a go and take it from there.

"It is massive for them, it is a case of staking a claim for a place in the squad on a regular basis.

"It is a great one for us because we learn so much about them on nights like this.

"We won't be chucking loads of the young ones in but there may be one or two featuring."

Tickets for this evening's game are on open sale up until the 7.45pm kick-off priced at just £10 for Adults, £5 Seniors/18-21yrs, and just £1 for Juniors aged 17 and under.
