Rovers are delighted to announce that promising goalkeeper David Raya has signed a new long-term contract with the club.
The 19-year-old has put pen-to-paper on a new three-year deal, which will keep him at Ewood Park until the summer of 2018.
It is just reward for the young Spanish stopper, who joined Rovers' Academy back in 2012 and quickly progressing through the Under-18 and Under-21 squads.
Raya spent a fruitful first half of this season on loan with Conference side Southport, making 22 appearances, including a memorable performance in the FA Cup third round as the Sandgrounders narrowly lost 1-0 to Derby County.
The keeper topped that achievement at the beginning of this month by making his senior debut in a Rovers shirt, keeping a clean sheet in a 3-0 win over Leeds United at Elland Road.
"Working hard has paid off for me because I made my debut a couple of weeks ago and now I've signed my second pro contract for Blackburn, so I'm very happy," said Raya.
"It has been a great year for me. I've grown up as a player and as a person. I went on loan to Southport, which was a really good experience, playing regularly at a good level.
"Then, my debut against Leeds, walking off that pitch with a 3-0 win and keeping a clean sheet and playing well, it was a great feeling.
"The next step for me is to try and get a regular place in the team and to try to play as many games as I can.
"As soon as you make your debut you want to play more first team games, but I know I need to keep working hard to get in the team."
Raya is in the Rovers squad for this weekend's final match of the season against Ipswich Town at Ewood Park.
Kick-off this Saturday is 12.15pm, and tickets are on open sale priced from £21 for Adults, from £13 for Seniors aged 65 and over, from £13 for Students, and from £8 for Juniors aged 16 and under.
