After a season disrupted by injury, Tommy Spurr is delighted to be finally getting games under his belt.
The popular defender has been sidelined for the majority of the season with a troublesome groin injury, but is pleased to be back in action in the final weeks of the campaign.
"I just want to get games," Spurr told Rovers Player. "For me towards the end of the season my own personal thing is to just to play games.
"I've missed too much football this season, so to keep my head I need to play as many games as I can between now and the end of the season.
"As a footballer you just want to play games, but when you are injured and can't even train then it is difficult. But I've managed to play nine games now which at one point I didn't think I was going to do."
With the impressive form at left back of Markus Olsson, and injuries to Grant Hanley, Shane Duffy and Alex Baptiste, Spurr has had to step in as a makeshift centre-half.
But Spurr admits he has enjoyed playing in the centre of defence and will play anywhere for the team.
"It is good, I enjoy it," added Spurr. "It is quite natural to me from when I was younger, so slotting back in there isn't any trouble for me.
"Playing alongside Killa is good, I have enjoyed playing there, I enjoy playing left back or centre-half and whichever one gets me in the team I'll gladly play to get games and to try and help Blackburn Rovers."
Spurr and Rovers are back in action this Saturday when Nottingham Forest are the visitors to Ewood Park.
