GB: If I was Rudy I'd be fuming

18 April 2015

Gary Bowyer was far from impressed with his side's performance as they let a lead slip three times at home to Nottingham Forest.

After doing the same on Tuesday night against Birmingham City, Rovers' inability to hold onto a lead came back to bite them once more as Forest came from beind to earn a point in a 3-3 draw.

The biggest disappointment for the manager was that the scoreline overshadowed a superb hat-trick from striker Rudy Gestede. Back in the starting line-up after a hamstring strain, the Benin international bullied the Forest back line to open the scoring, before twice heading Craig Conway centres to fire his second treble in Rovers' colours.

The Rovers boss felt sorry for Gestede as the performance at the other end of the park meant it wasn't a day to remember for the striker.

"We can't be scoring three goals at home and not winning the game, it is as simple as that I'm afraid," an angry Bowyer told Radio Rovers after the match.

"We struggled in the first half due to their system, but in the second half I felt we did a lot better.

"We scored some fantastic goals but if I was Rudy Gestede I'd be fuming. He's scored a hat-trick and we've not won the game, I'd be fuming if I was him.

"It was a magnificent exhibition from him, it wasn't just his goals and his heading, if you looked at his work-rate today, from minute one he chases down his own block and that is what set it up all for him.

"He was better with the ball at his feet as well today, we should be talking about a winning performance but we are not. I am fuming, the players know exactly how I am feeling.

"We have to be professional and see the game out, I questioned how many winners we had on Tuesday and today it is the same question."

Rovers are back in action at Ewood Park this Tuesday night when they face Millwall, kick-off 7.45pm.
