Matt Kilgallon believes Saturday's win over Leeds United will ensure the camp is full of confidence ahead of the big FA Cup clash with Liverpool this Wednesday night.
The Rovers defender, who started his footballing career at the Yorkshire club, was delighted to came away from Elland Road with an impressive 3-0 win to put the team in high spirits with the quarter-final replay at Ewood next up.
After an even first half ended goalless and the hosts a man light, Rovers really turned up the heat in the second half with three unanswered goals. Tom Cairney and Jordan Rhodes scoring in quick succession before Jay Spearing got on the scoresheet ten minutes from time.
Rovers could have had more with Rhodes twice striking the frame of the goal, as well a Ben Marshall effort that rattled the woodwork, but nevertheless Kilgallon was pleased to come away from his former haunt with all three points.
"Leeds are a massive club with great fans and everyone comes here knowing that they are going to get a game," said Kilgallon.
"In the first 20 minutes they were playing really well and we were under the cosh but we defended well again and gave ourselves half a chance.
"Then one of their players does something silly and after that there was only one team in it and it could have been five or six nil.
"I thought the away fans were brilliant, you could hear them singing throughout.
"It is always one to have in your book is a win at Elland Road, especially 3-0. It gives us a bit more confidence for Wednesday, it is always good to get an away win."
The Rovers captain had another goalkeeper in the nets behind him, with 19-year-old David Raya making his debut, and Kilgallon was impressed with the way he handled the occasion.
"He's an upcoming keeper who has bags of ability," added the defender. "He is good on the ball and he made a great save in the first half when it has come off my shin.
"So it is great for him and what a ground to make your debut at."
