Tighten up at the back

16 September 2014

Gary Bowyer wants the players to show more of their resilient side with a clean sheet against Derby County on Wednesday night.

Rovers kept 15 clean sheets last season but are yet to shut out the opposition this term, and the manager knows it is crucial to their success that they keep things tighter at the back.

"I don't think we are being greedy by wanting clean sheets," said the Rovers boss. "It is something that we are working very hard towards and is something that we want.

"What is at the back of our minds is that we know that we can do it. We had 15 clean sheets last season so the capabilities of everybody in there is not a major worry.

"We've not had one yet and the defence and the goalkeeper will tell you that they are just as valuable to them as the lads scoring at the other end.

"We've just got to make sure that we do the basics right, we've got to just make sure that we keep working hard and look to get that."

Tickets for Wednesday's match against the Rams will be on open sale until the 7.45pm kick-off. Tickets are priced from £21 for Adults, from £13 for Seniors/Students and from £8 for under 17s.
