Spurr to play for Under-21s

29 September 2014

Tommy Spurr will make his long-awaited return to action this evening after being named in the Under-21 squad that will take on Reading at Ewood Park.

The Rovers defender hasn't featured for the first team this season after picking up a groin injury in the week before the start of the campaign.

The full back returned to training last week and will step up his comeback in tonight's match against the Royals.

Spurr is the only senior on show as coach Eric Kinder has kept faith with the squad that defeated Stoke City 5-2 last time out.

Rovers are offering free admission for all supporters for tonight's match, with the Jack Walker Lower turnstiles open. Kick-off is at 7.00pm.

ROVERS: Crump, Daly, Spurr, Tanner, Lavelle, Lenihan, Mahoney, Bauress (c), Rittenberg, Carson, Cham.

READING: Lincoln, Dickie, Griffin, Shaughnessy, Hyam, Keown, Owusu, Samuel, Cardwell, Kelly, Fosu.
