Op blow for Brown

11 September 2014

Chris Brown has been dealt an injury blow ahead of Saturday's match against Wigan Athletic.

The Rovers striker has undergone a knee operation which will hopefully see an end to the injury problems that have troubled the forward since his summer arrival from Doncaster Rovers.

The 29-year-old hasn't yet featured for the club since putting pen-to-paper on a two-year deal in June, and although he was named amongst the subs last time out against Wolverhampton Wanderers, it was decided for him to undergo the operation.

Speaking on Thursday afternoon, Rovers boss Gary Bowyer confirmed: "Chris Brown has unfortunately had an operation at the beginning of this week.

"He's been battling along with a knee injury sustained in pre-season, we thought we got to the bottom of it but he had a reaction so unfortunately he's had an operation.

"That has been a success so hopefully we are looking at four to six weeks with him. It is disappointing for him not to have made his full debut for us yet.

"He's desperate to do well, but we've now got to the bottom of it, so it is about gearing up to him getting fit and getting ready to challenge for a place."

Tickets for Saturday's match against the Latics will be on sale up until the 3.00pm kick-off, priced from £21 for Adults, from £13 for Seniors/Students and from £8 for Under-17s.
