Connor Mahoney earned his first cap at Under-18 level as England tasted defeat in Italy.
The Rovers starlet played just over an hour as the Young Lions lost 2-0 in Caorle on Wednesday afternoon.
Mahoney played a key role in the first half as his slide-rule pass saw Callum Cooke fire narrowly wide, before the Rovers forward saw an effort saved on the stroke of half-time.
However two second half goals in the space of as many minutes saw Neil Dewsnip's side behind.
On 56 minutes half-time substitute Simone Edera beat the England offside trap to fire the hosts in front.
Then two minutes later their advantage was doubled when Simone Minelli latched onto a through-ball to score.
England's youngsters worked hard to find a way back into the match, but the Italians held out to claim the win.
