It was a disappointing evening for Josh King's Norway as they opened their Euro 2016 qualifying campaign with defeat to Italy.
The Rovers forward played the full match at the Ullevaal Stadion in Oslo as Norway slipped to a 2-0 home loss.
The Azzurri opened the scoring on 16 minutes when Simone Zaza fired home to give Italy a first half advantage.
King twice came close to levelling for Norway during the opening 45 minutes, the first saw him unable to get a clean effort at goal after creating space in the area, the second, a well-struck shot that deflected past a stranded Gianluigi Buffon, but his effort cleared the bar.
Despite those chances it was the visitors who doubled their lead just past the hour mark, Leonardo Bonucci heading home to confirm victory for the Italians.
Defeat for Norway sees them placed bottom of Group H after the first round of matches. They are next in action against Malta on October 10th.
