New-boy Shane Duffy has expressed his delight after completing a deadline day move to the club.
The 22-year-old Irishman joins Rovers from Everton on a three-year deal for an undisclosed fee.
The defender admits it was a wrench to leave Goodison Park, where he had learned his trade from the age of 16, but is looking forward to a new chapter in his footballing career.
"I'm delighted to have got it done and excited to get started now," said Duffy. "I'm over the moon to be here, it is a great club to be at.
"It was a tough decision to leave Everton, but it is a chance to come here and play football - that is my aim and hopefully I can do that. It is a new start for me.
"I was always in and around the first team for the last three years at Everton, but when there's that much quality ahead of you it is difficult to break in."
Duffy, who gained valuable first team experience in the Championship on loan at Yeovil last season, added: "There comes a time in your career that you realise you need to go out and play.
"I didn't really want to go out on loan again, it wasn't really an option for me, I wanted to settle down.
"It is all about development as a player. Blackburn is a great option for me and I jumped at the chance."
