Gary Bowyer praised the contribution of forward Luke Varney in Saturday's 3-1 win over Wigan Athletic at Ewood Park.
A stunning brace from Ben Marshall, either side of a third goal of the season for Jordan Rhodes, saw Rovers maintain their unbeaten home league start with a worthy win over their Lancashire rivals.
The scoreline could have been greater had Varney been a touch more fortunate in front of goal. A fizzing cross from the impressive Markus Olsson was just behind the front man, before Tom Cairney's perfectly weighted through ball saw the former Leeds striker denied by the boots of Wigan goalkeeper Scott Carson.
Speaking after the match the Rovers boss said: "I thought Luke Varney was tremendous when he came on, he made a massive difference.
"He's been magnificent since he's been in the building and I thought the level of performance when he came on was excellent for us.
"He kept us on the front foot, he kept making those runs.
"We were all willing the ball for him to drop in the back of the net, I think the fans have seen what a contribution he could make for us, he's a valuable member of our group.
"He has been dying for his opportunity and he grabbed it with both hands."
