For the third time this season, Anderton scored the only goal of the game, as Gemma Donnelly’s side defeated Nottingham Forest 1-0 to climb up to third in the table.
Rovers struggled to get into their passing pattern early on, but soon started to create opportunities.
Sophie Flynn found herself in the clear, but fired over from inside the box, before Rovers took the lead.
On 31 minutes, Flynn played the ball into Anderton, whose left-foot shot ricocheted off a Forest defender and found the bottom corner.
The visitors enjoyed plenty of possession in the Forest half and continued to create chances, but were thankful to Jo Hutcheson, who made a superb save to preserve Rovers’ lead at the break.
Forest came out strongly at the start of the second half and grew into the game, but Rovers still had opportunities to increase their advantage, which they were unable to take.
Assistant manager Amanda Goodwin said: “The scoreline doesn’t reflect how well we played. It was another dominant display.
“Full credit to the whole team, because we defended well from back to front, to keep yet another clean sheet and claim another comfortable victory.
“We have conceded just one goal in our last five games now, we are looking strong and organised, and we know what needs to be done in order to get the three points, which is the most important thing.”
