Gary Bowyer saluted his side's spirit and character as they claimed a welcome three points with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Fulham.
Jordan Rhodes fourth goal of the season settled a feisty affair in which the home side ended with ten men after Shaun Hutchinson was red carded for an awful challenge on Lee Williamson.
"We were outstanding," said the Rovers boss after the game. "It was a hell of a response from Wednesday night.
"This was never going to be an easy fixture because of them losing the manager. Kit Symons has done a tremendous job in such a short space of time in getting them organised and up for it.
"But I thought we started the game well which we'd spoke about, we quietened them down a little bit and didn't give them any encouragement, whilst we could have scored a couple of goals from set-plays.
"The sending off changed the flow of the game a little bit but we spoke at half-time what to expect and what to do and I thought we did well with it. The goal is an outstanding finish from Jordan.
"We knew there'd be a reaction from the Fulham players and there was that. Our mindset and determination was outstanding, everybody gave everything.
"We've had three difficult games in a week and after the emotion of Wednesday night it was a enormous response from everybody.
"We are really pleased to get our first clean sheet of the season and to come away with three points."
Rovers are back in action this Saturday when Watford are the visitors to Ewood Park.
