Rudy adds to Rovers' woes

1 October 2014

Rudy Gestede will undergo a scan this Wednesday to determine the extent of the injury picked up in last night's 2-0 defeat to Rotherham United.

The Rovers striker limped off after half an hour at the New York Stadium after sustaining a hamstring injury.

"We lost Alex Baptiste on Saturday, then we lost Tom Cairney on the morning of the game, and now Rudy," said boss Gary Bowyer.

"We'll assess that and see where we are in the morning. I'm sure he'll get scanned and the medical staff will work as hard as they do to try and get him on the pitch for Saturday.

"But if there is any slight doubt then we'd obviously err on the side of caution because you've got the international break."

Rovers are already without a host of players ahead of Saturday's home game against Huddersfield Town.

Chris Brown, David Dunn, Jason Lowe and Paul Robinson are all ruled out, whilst Alex Baptiste and Tom Cairney are doubts.

Corry Evans misses the weekend match after picking up his fifth booking of the season, whilst Tommy Spurr only returned to action on Monday evening after injury, playing 45 minutes for the Under-21s, to leave the squad stretched.

Tickets for Saturday's match are on open sale. Prices are from £21 for Adults, from £13 for Seniors & Students and from £8 for Under-17s.
