Lavelle's Scotland pegged back

8 October 2014

Scotland's Under-19s blew a two-goal lead in their opening UEFA European Under-19 Championship Qualifying Round match against Finland.

The young Scots, featuring Rovers defender Sam Lavelle, roared into a two-goal lead in Kaunas thanks to a first half strike from Paul McMullan and a second half penalty from Liam Henderson.

Scotland looked set to claim all three points in their opening match, however Finland pulled a goal back with 14 minutes to go, before grabbing an injury-time leveller to leave Ricky Sbragia’s side with just a point. Lavelle played the full match for the Scots.

The Under-19s are back in action this Thursday when they take on group hosts Lithuania. The Lithuanians were defeated 2-0 in their opening match by Scotland's Sunday opponents Norway.
