Under-21s boss Eric Kinder is delighted to add another defender to his squad with the arrival of Sam Jones.
Having impressed in a week-long trial at Brockhall, the centre half has put pen-to-paper on a one-year deal with Rovers following his release from Leicester City in the summer.
The Welsh youth international started his footballing education with Cardiff City before being snapped up by Manchester City. He then moved onto the Foxes to complete his scholarship.
"When you look at his CV and the club's he's played at it meant we had to have a look at him," said Kinder of the 18-year-old.
"We got him in and we saw something, we've been impressed with the way he handles the ball, he's a good footballer, he's a big lad and we are a bit short at the back.
"So it made sense, we think we can push him on and make him an even better footballer."
Unfortunately for Jones, a suspension picked up whilst with Leicester City means the defender is unavailable for this evening's Under-21 match against Arsenal.
