Jones joins Rovers ranks

16 October 2014

Rovers Under-21s have strengthened their defensive options with the signing of promising youngster Sam Jones.

The Lancaster-born central defender has put pen-to-paper on a one-year deal through to June 2015 after a successful trial with the club.

A Welsh youth international, Jones adds competition to Eric Kinder's development squad and can't wait to play his part.

"I'm delighted to be here," said the 18-year-old, whose former clubs include Leicester City, Manchester City and Cardiff City.

"I've had a brilliant time at the club this past week, I've enjoyed every minute of it on and off the field.

"It is one of the best clubs around for youth especially and you can see that the minute you come here, so I'm delighted."
