Improvement is imperative

2 October 2014

Boss Gary Bowyer knows it is vital that Rovers start to perform for longer periods during matches.

Tuesday night's loss to Rotherham United saw Rovers again start slowly, but unlike the weekend draw with Watford, they were unable to get back on level terms despite a much improved showing in the second half.

It is Rovers' inability to control games for longer spells that is proving to be a source of frustration for the manager, something that has to be put right.

"We can't keep giving teams a head start," Bowyer told Rovers Player. "We've got to stop this now and produce the level of football that we are capable of.

"We can't allow lapses of concentration or mistakes to give team gifts.

"We've got to address that collectively and sort that out because when we do put it together, like you saw on Saturday, we have the potential to be better than what we are producing.

"We've got to bounce back, that is the important message, this lot have shown that they can do that time and time again.

"We've got the confidence and belief in these lads, they need to bounce back now and put everything straight."
