Duffy backs Rhodes to put penalty miss behind him

10 October 2014

Rovers defender Shane Duffy has backed team-mate Jordan Rhodes to bounce back after his penalty miss against Huddersfield Town.

After ten successful attempts, Rhodes missed his first spot-kick for Rovers in the goalless draw against his former club last time out.

But Duffy doesn't believe the miss will affect the striker and is confident that Rhodes will be back on the goal trail sooner rather than later.

"He's a top player and top players bounce back," Duffy told Radio Rovers. "It wouldn't surprise me if he scores a few in his next few games.

"I thought he played well in the game, he was just unlucky with the penalty. It is one of those things, you need the character to step up.

"He'll bounce back I'm sure, he has the character and strength to come through it and play well."

Duffy and Rhodes are back in action a week on Saturday when they travel to take on Ipswich Town at Portman Road.

Tickets are currently on open sale, priced at £32.50 for Adults, £23 for Seniors 60+ and Students with a valid NUS, £22 for Under 10s and £11.50 for Under 16’s.
