Gary Bowyer wasn't surprised to see Jordan Rhodes back on the goal trail at the weekend.
The Rovers striker took his tally for the season to seven with a brace to clinch victory against Leeds United at Ewood Park.
After the visitors had taken a first-half lead, sheer persistence from Rhodes saw him take advantage of a defensive mix-up to equalise, before the 24-year-old scored an 88th minute penalty to seal all three points for Rovers.
"He wants more goals, all strikers want more goals," Bowyer told Radio Rovers after the game.
"He's got two today and quickly he's gone up the goalscoring charts."
Rhodes was the coolest man in the stadium as he stepped up to take the late penalty, but his manager wasn't surprised that he made no mistake.
"The surprise was him missing against Huddersfield," added Bowyer. "But on the Monday morning after that game he was out practicing penalties when everybody had finished training.
"So for him to do that today was no surprise, it wasn't luck, it was down to the hard work and the preparation that he put into it.
"There are 28 games left so who knows how many goals he will end up with."
Rhodes and Rovers are back in action this weekend when they travel to the Riverside Stadium to take on Middlesbrough.
Tickets are on open sale for the fixture priced £31 for Adults, £23 for over 65s and £16 for Under-18s. Book online today at www.onerovers.co.uk.
