Keep consistent

1 November 2014

Goalkeeper Jason Steele is eager for Rovers to maintain their unbeaten run and move into a top-six position.

Two wins and two draws in their last four outings has seen Rovers rise up the table, but Steele knows that it is important that they keep it going against Reading later this afternoon.

Speaking ahead of the game against the Royals, the stopper said: "The more consistent teams that take two wins out of three, or six points out of nine, they're generally there or thereabouts.

"You've seen in the last week where we've got seven points out of nine and all of a sudden we are four points away from the top of the league. So I think it just shows you that you can go on a little run and you are right back amongst it."

Steele, who kept a clean sheet on his 150th league appearance against Birmingham in Rovers' last home outing, knows that Reading will provide a stern test, despite their current league position.

"From the lads I know at Middlesbrough, they went up there and beat them earlier in the season," added the goalkeeper. "That says it all as Middlesbrough haven't lost many games this season.

"It just shows, it doesn't matter who you play, the Championship is unpredictable, you never know what team is going to come and do what against you.

"But I think if we concentrate on ourselves and focus on what we can do and how we can hurt teams then I think there's not many teams that can deal with us at the minute."
