Hanley can’t halt Rooney’s England

19 November 2014

Grant Hanley started for Scotland in last night’s Auld Enemy clash with England at Celtic Park.

The Rovers skipper played 66 minutes, as two goals from Wayne Rooney helped the Three Lions to a 3-1 win.

Arsenal’s Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain headed home the opener just past the half-hour mark and Rooney’s double took his England goal tally to 46.

Scotland’s Andrew Robertson pulled one back for the hosts, but England were good value for their sixth straight win.

Meanwhile, Rovers Under-21 goalkeeper David Raya kept a clean sheet, as loan club Southport beat Dagenham & Redbridge 2-0 in their FA Cup first round replay.
