Cup action for Raya and O'Connor

10 November 2014

Two Rovers players saw game time in the FA Cup this weekend and both will be in the hat for today's 2nd round draw.

David Raya's Southport earned themselves a first-round replay against League Two side Dagenham & Redbridge after a goalless draw away at Victoria Road.

The league side had the better of the chances but couldn't find a way through a stubborn Sandgrounders defence marshalled by goalkeeper Raya.

The two sides will meet again in the replay at Haig Avenue a week on Tuesday.

At Home Park, Plymouth Argyle overcame a potential banana-skin by defeating AFC Fylde 2-0.

Goals from Peter Hartley and Marvin Morgan were enough for the Pilgrims to advance at the expense of the Conference North side.

Anthony O'Connor didn't start for Plymouth but came on at half time to play the second 45.

Elsewhere in the cup Jordan Slew was an unused substitute as Port Vale lost 4-3 at home to MK Dons, whilst Leon Best played no part in Derby's 5-0 demolition of Wolves.
