Under-21s boss Eric Kinder believes this evening's Lancashire Senior Cup clash with Manchester United is one that his young side should savour.
A place in the last four against Wigan Athletic await the winners of tonight's match at Leigh Sports Village.
Rovers reached the quarter-final stage of the competition courtesy of a 1-0 win over Preston North End, but Kinder knows the development squad will have to be at the top of their game against a United side that progressed after defeating Accrington 4-2.
"Because of the structure of the league it means we don't get to play against most of the big boys this year," said the Rovers coach.
"It is a shame really because it is always a great occasion to play against the biggest clubs in the country.
"So instead we've been drawn to play them in the Lancashire Senior Cup and it is a fantastic fixture for us.
"They beat Accrington in the last round and they had a lot of players playing in that who have been around their first team and have made Premier League appearances.
"So I'd imagine it will be similar team, so that makes it a test for us.
"We've done ever so well this year in the big games. At Arsenal away when Walcott and Diaby played we handled ourselves really well that night and we'll have to be exactly the same this Tuesday night if we are to get anything out of it."
Rovers striker Chris Brown is expected to step up his rehabilitation from injury with more match time tonight.
The forward played 45 minutes and scored twice in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Carlisle United last week and is likely to feature against United this evening.
"Chris Brown was excellent in a behind-closed-doors match," added Kinder.
"He came through 45 minutes and didn't want to come off. So I expect him to play some of the game on Tuesday.
"I'm really pleased for him because he's a nice bloke and a top pro and I hope that's the end of his injuries now."
Rovers could also give other senior players a runout this evening, full team news will be confirmed later.
